Boy was I wrong
I'd assumed that this show was obscene nerd garbage. I was falling
asleep a few nights ago and this show came on. I was too lazy to change
the channel as I usually would. This show was on and I watched it.
Brilliant. I'm not familiar with the Star Trek universe, but the
writing of this show is amazing. It's Philosophy. I love it.

I can't look at what I perceived as nerdy the same way again. I feel
like a fool. If you Star Trek fans might suggest another good show, I'd
love to hear it.

It seems that I have to speak for at least 10 lines to post this
message. So, I say to you, whom I perceived as a nerd, you are a nerd,
and that means that you are our future social betters, behind the
scenes.
Star Trek The Next Generation Complete SeriesPretty decent, for its time
Being that it started in the 80's, high quality special effects are too
much to ask for. This is a problem only in those times when writers
neglected the story, trying to lean on the flash of special effects.
Patrick Stewart pretty much made the show, though I feel Brent Spiner
is quite underrated. The rest of the cast are unspectacular. A couple
(I won't name names) are truly bad actors. A moving scene in the pilot
episode was spoiled by an incredibly hammish performance. Certainly the
original series wasn't a masterpiece, which sets the bar pretty low.
Some people feel that it both shows were works of genius, which is far
from the truth. The fact is, they had a certain appeal. A vision of the
future in which poverty and disease have no hold on Earth, where racism
has been replaced by enlightenment (The original series featured the
first interracial kiss in U.S. TV). In conclusion, it's a decent show.
Nothing more.
